Chris was on SNL for about a year in the 90s. Armisen might be funny and a very talented drummer, but he is completely fug. I guess he gets laid a lot because he’s rich and famous, because if he was an Average Joe driving a truck for a living, I’m sure he’d be frequenting hookers for his sex addiction! Speaking of SNL, has anyone caught the gossip about that mental case Tracey Morgan refusing to help his mom out? She lost her job, then took ill and needs help with her mortgage. His sister had some comments about this situation, she stated Morgan has always been a nasty and angry person, so she was not surprised by his refusal to help their mom. She also stated that most of his book was filled with lies. Women love me who can talk. SNL performers don’t make much it’s only what, 15 eps a year or something? Sweeney probably isn’t recognized much as his years on SNL never get rerun.
Pete Davidson addresses Ariana Grande split on ‘SNL’
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a rally in Las Vegas. It’s a hosting choice that has raised questions over whether TV stations will be required to give equal time to other candidates — and raised eyebrows, because of Trump’s controversial statements about Mexican immigrants. On one level, Saturday Night Live is a good example of how TV shows can address concerns about racial diversity.
Last year, after a growing chorus of complaints about the lack of black women on the show, the program hired three African-American women and wound up making two of them — Sasheer Zamata and Leslie Jones — on-camera performers. Then it promoted Michael Che, a young black comic who also briefly worked on the Daily Show, as co-anchor of its Weekend Update segment. In , Johnny Carson announced that he wanted the weekend shows pulled and saved so that they could be aired during weeknights, allowing him to take time off. Over the next three weeks, Ebersol and Michaels developed the latter’s idea for a variety show featuring high-concept comedy sketches, political satire, and music performances that would attract to year-old viewers.
But during the first season in and , according to a book about the show authored by Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad, some NBC executives were not satisfied with the show’s Nielsen ratings and shares. Baby boomers far outnumbered Generation X in reality but not in television viewership with the exception of Michaels’ new show and major league sports, and advertisers had long been concerned about baby boomers’ distaste for the powerful medium.
NBC executives eventually understood Michaels’ explanation of the desirable demographics and they decided to keep the show on the air despite many angry letters and phone calls that the network received from viewers who were offended by certain sketches. Aykroyd and Belushi left the show in after the end of season four. In May after season five , Michaels—emotionally and physically exhausted—requested to put the show on hiatus for a year to give him time and energy to pursue other projects.
NBC president Fred Silverman disliked Franken, and was infuriated by Franken’s Weekend Update routine called “Limo for a Lame-O”, a scathing critique of Silverman’s job performance at the network and his insistence on traveling by limousine at the network’s expense. Silverman blamed Michaels for approving this Weekend Update segment. Doumanian faced resentment and sabotage from the remaining Michaels staff, particularly males who did not appreciate a woman believing she could take Michaels’ place.

A public conversation about the longtime absence of Black women on Saturday Night Live led to the casting of Sasheer Zamata and the hiring of not one, but two Black women writers: Leslie Jones and LaKendra Tookes. At first, I was disgusted that Jones dared make light of slave rape AND dismiss the significance of The Lupita Moment all in one fell swoop—and that she jumped and hollered like some sort of banshee while doing it.

Dec 06, Marnie rated it it was ok I would probably give this book a 2. I found the first half of this book more interesting than the latter half. Mostly, I think my problem is that I found Dratch less and less relatable as I moved further into the book.

Christian Holub March 12, at After all, this newfound cultural relevance was always a blessing as well as a curse. Set in the future, the sketch imagined how President Trump would react to an alien invasion. The whole thing has gone stale, mostly because it lacks a biting critique. Luckily, later parts of the episode indicated better possibilities for the future. Instead, the episode mostly highlighted her action-star skills, her singing talents, and general charisma. In order to get any traction, SNL should just dial things way up and go for above-and-beyond absurdist pastiche.
